How To Manage Type 2 Diabetes Naturally

Type-2

Diabetes is one of the deadliest and silent killers in the world. It is widespread and persistent, and unfortunately, once you get diagnosed with it, it stays with you till the end    Nearly 422 million people in the world suffer from diabetes and this number is only increasing every year. It may not look dangerous, but diabetes is the number one killer in the world. In 2012, it was the reason for nearly 1.2 million deaths worldwide. And sadly, there is no cure for diabetes

What Happens To Me If I Have Diabetes

There are only 2 types of diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2; Type 1 diabetes occurs when the pancreas doesn’t produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone/compound that breaks down sugar in the body. While Type 2 diabetes occurs when the quality of insulin produced in the body is so low that it is almost ineffective in breaking down the sugars. Type 2 diabetes is responsible for most of the deaths worldwide. However, contrary to popular belief, people with diabetes can still live long and healthy lives provided that their diabetes is well managed and controlled.
Following are the causes of diabetes -
1. Eye diseases – People suffering from diabetes contract a type of eye disease which causes reduced vision and eventually blindness. Consistently high levels of blood glucose, combined with increased blood pressure and high cholesterol, are the main causes of such eye diseases.
2. Kidney diseases – Damage to the blood vessels leading to the kidneys may stop the kidneys from functioning and purifying the blood altogether, causing a lot of stress on the other kidney causing both to fail.
3. Nerve diseases – Diabetes causes damage to the nerves in the entire body if the blood sugar levels are too high, damage to the nerves in such regions of the body is called peripheral neuropathy and causes tingling sensations, pain and eventually loss of any feeling in the area.
4. Cardiovascular diseases – Diabetes can cause complications in the blood vessels and major coronaries of the heart and cause deadly complications such as coronary artery disease which may lead to heart attacks or strokes.
5. Complications in Pregnancy – Potential mothers with any kind of diabetes are at risk during pregnancies if their diabetes isn’t managed carefully. Type 1 diabetes in the mothers can cause damage to the fetus and its organs and if mothers have high levels of blood glucose the child has high chances of developing diabetes as well.
7. Oral Diseases – Those with diabetes have higher chances of inflammation of the gums if their blood sugar levels aren’t managed properly
8. Cancers – Those with diabetes normally have a lot of lipid accumulation, the chances of these tissues turning malignant and cancerous are higher in diabetics than the normal person.

What Can I Do To Get Rid Of It?

1. Consume Amla – Indian Blackberry

Amla is one of the most famous solutions for keeping diabetes at bay. According to Ayurveda and several scientific tests, it not only has a lot of antioxidants but its seeds contain the substance, “jambolana”  a chemical compound that slows down the chemical conversion of starch to sugar, allowing the body’s insulin to take its time.

2. Eat Organic & Whole Foods

Whole grains can effectively regulate and restrict the glycemic response times, increase insulin effectiveness, increase pancreatic β-cell functioning and boost insulin production. Ayurveda suggests aged rice to be consumed as one of the grains beneficial to diabetic patients.

3. Go to Bed Early and Sleep Well

Sleeping on time and in a sufficient amount just feels great and is vital for good health as sleeping is the period where the body recuperates and heals itself. Without sleep, the body is unable to repair itself or recover from illnesses and injuries. Bad sleeping patterns and a lack of rest also have an effect on blood sugar levels and insulin production levels and quality. It can increase appetite and promote weight gain. Lack of sleep reduces the number of growth hormones released and increases the levels of cortisol secreted. Both of these hormones play a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels.

4. Eat Organic Supplements.

Cinnamon regulates diabetes and decreases blood sugar levels in your body. However, it shouldn’t be consumed in excess amounts as it leads to problems in respiration and increases the heart rate, causing excessive sweating.
Flax seeds are filled with antioxidants and consumption of these seeds can lead to a decrease in resistance to insulin, most likely due to the decrease of oxidative stress in the body. They are also rich in fiber and hence increase the absorption of fats and sugars. Consuming flaxseed aids in reducing a diabetic's postprandial blood sugar levels by almost 28%

5. Live Healthily

This means that you should avoid stress and exercise regularly. Studies have shown that stress can negatively affect the blood sugar levels in your body, Hormones like cortisol and glucagon are produced in high amounts during times of increased stress. These hormones trigger blood sugar levels to go up. Regular exercises and methods of relaxation like yoga and mindfulness-based stress reduction can also improve insulin production problems in chronic diabetes.
Working out regularly also burns calories which means that sugar in the body instantly gets converted into energy reducing the blood sugar levels in the body, therefore reducing problems caused due to Type 2 diabetes.

That Being Said

Following these remedies and tips will surely help in reducing Type 2 diabetes and if not reduce then at least help you bring it back under controllable levels. Before self-medicating or taking any herbal drugs, people should always consult with their doctors and physicians. Doctors may develop a better diet plan along with you as some herbs and medications may react with other drugs that play the same function, such as blood thinners and blood pressure medicines. It is vital to be aware of any potential side effects before starting a new supplement plan.
